Deoxys Deck [Fusion Strike] ~ PTCG92

Overview

Deoxy is a 3 in 1 Strike Pokemon. All Strike Mechanics such Fusion Strike, Single Strike and Rapid Strike can be used to enhance its attack. For Single Prize Basic Pokemon, it has quite decent HP of 120 and -30 Fighting Resistance. So, your opponent's Fighting Pokemon need at least 150 damage to OHKO it.

Deoxys has only one attack, Photon Boost which has 80 base damage and need 3 Colorless Energy to use it. This attack does 80 more damage it Fusion Strike Energy is attached to Deoxys. You might probably think 3 Energy for 160 damage seems mediocre. But, don't forget about that it is 3 in 1 Strike Pokemon which means you can attach Rapid Strike Energy and Single Strike Energy to enhance its attack.

These 3 different types of Special Energy can boost Deoxys in different way. Fusion Strike Energy prevents all effect of your opponent's Pokemon Abilities done to Deoxys. Rapid Strike Energy provide 2 Energy for Photon Boost attack while Single Strike Energy increases Photon Boost damage by 20.

Energy Acceleration

Attaching 1 Fusion Strike Energy and 1 Rapid Strike Energy to Deoxys will take 2 turns and then you can start attacking using Photon Boost. But, if you attach 1 Fusion Strike Energy and 2 Single Strike Energy to Deoxy manually, you will need to wait 3 turns before you attack using Photon Boost.

This is where Homundoom Single Strike comes in handy since it Ability Single Strike Roar let you attach 1 Single Strike Energy from your deck to 1 of your Single Strike Pokemon. So, you need to set up 2 Houndoom to provide 2 Single Strike Energy to Deoxys. With this set up, you can attach 3 Energy to Deoxys in 1 turn if you have Fusion Strike Energy in your hand. In addition, 2 Single Strike Energy will increase Photon Bosst damage by 40 and the total damage will become 220 which is strong enough to OHKO most of the Basic Pokemon V.

Fusion Strike Energy can be accelerated to Deoxys with Elesa's Sparkle since this Supporter let you choose 2 Fusion Strike Pokemon and attach 1 Fusion Strike Energy to each Pokemon. Again, if you have Rapid Strike Energy and Elesa's Sparkle in your hand, you can attach 3 Energy to Deoxys in 1 turn.

Increase Damage

If your Deoxy have 1 Rapid Strike Energy and 1 Fusion Energy, 180 damage from Photon Boost can't OHKO most of your opponent's Basic Pokemon V. Using Power Tablet [Item] let your Deoxy does 30 more damage. With 2 Power Tablets, Photon Bosst will have 240 damage and can OHKO most of the Basic Pokemon V.

There is also a slight chance that your Deoxy can OHKO Pokemon VMAX if it has 2 Single Strike Energy and you somehow managed to use 4 Power Tablets during your turn.
